Paleo Puppy should be stored in the freezer and defrosted in a tupperware in the fridge. Once fully defrosted it should be used within 2 days.
Puppies require more food than adults to cater for their quick growth and development.
You can determine your puppy’s daily feeding amount based on their current weight. Puppies should be fed 5-6% of their body weight to support their growth and development.
Feeding a variety of different meats is important however, for the first few weeks we would recommend feeding one flavour over 5-7 days. This will allow your pup to get used to that meal before trying a new one. We don't want to introduce too many varieties too quickly as it could cause an upset tum.
Some pups may have sensitivities to certain meats, so feeding one type for 5 - 7 days will help highlight this.
Once your puppy has settled onto this range, you can feed any flavour at the frequency you feel works best for them.
Young puppies benefit from being fed little and often. As a rough guide, pups should be fed as per the following:
- 4 meals per day for pups up to 4 -5 months
- 3 meals per day for pups from 4-9 months
- 2 meals per day for pups from 9 months to 1 year
- 1 - 2 meals per day from 1 year onwards
This is just a guide and where every dog is different you may want to feed less or more frequently depending on their preference.
It is important to remember that all pups will experience rapid growth spurts. During these periods they will be more hungry. Keep a close eye on body condition and growth. A lean pup is a healthy pup!
