Proudly Supporting British Farmers

From British Farms to Your Dog's Bowl

Better Food Starts with Better Farming

At Paleo Ridge, we believe the quality of our raw dog food begins with the way animals are reared and the care taken throughout the supply chain. We work with carefully selected farms and suppliers that share our commitment to animal welfare, responsible farming, traceability and consistently high-quality ingredients.

By prioritising British farmers, we help support UK agriculture while giving our customers greater confidence in where their dog’s food comes from. Where specialist ingredients need to be sourced elsewhere, we believe in being open and transparent about their origin.

Why British Sourcing Matters

Supporting the People Behind Our Ingredients

British farmers play a key role in our supply chain. By prioritising meat from trusted UK farms and suppliers wherever suitable ingredients are available, we can support British agriculture while building closer relationships with the people who rear the animals that go into our food.

Every supplier must meet our requirements for animal welfare, responsible farming, traceability and consistent quality. Our approval process includes careful due diligence, and we regularly visit farms and suppliers to help ensure those standards continue to be upheld.

For us, supporting British farmers is about more than where an ingredient comes from. It means backing businesses that share our values and giving customers greater confidence in the journey from farm to their dog’s bowl.

We choose suppliers for the way they farm—not simply for the flag on the label.

From Farm to Bowl

What Responsible Sourcing Looks Like in Practice

We prioritise British farms and suppliers wherever they can meet our requirements for animal welfare, traceability and consistent quality. Across our sourcing programme, we look for farming systems that allow animals to express more natural behaviours, including grass-fed grazing, outdoor rearing, organic production and free-range farming.

Our current sourcing includes grass-fed beef and lamb, outdoor-reared pork, certified organic chicken, free-range turkey, high-welfare duck and ethically sourced wild game.

Where an ingredient is sourced from Ireland or another country, we believe its origin should be communicated clearly rather than hidden behind a general British claim.

Explore Our Standards by Protein

We seek beef and lamb from trusted farms using grass-based grazing. Cattle and sheep are naturally adapted to graze, and supporting these farming systems helps maintain traditional livestock farming while giving customers greater confidence in how the animals were reared.

Our established sourcing policy includes relationships with selected farms in the UK and Ireland that share our welfare and responsible-farming values.

More Than Ingredient Origin

Why Supporting British Farmers Matters

Choosing British farms and suppliers is about more than shortening the journey from farm to bowl. It helps sustain skilled farming businesses, strengthens domestic supply chains and supports the rural communities and landscapes connected to British agriculture.

British farmers are central to the country’s food security, rural economy and the stewardship of the countryside. Agriculture employed almost half a million people across the UK in 2024, while the wider agri-food sector contributed an estimated £153.2 billion in gross value in 2023.

Supporting Rural Communities

British farming supports livelihoods far beyond the farm itself, including transport, veterinary services, engineering, food manufacturing and other rural businesses. Choosing British suppliers helps sustain demand across this wider network.

Strengthening UK Supply Chains

Strong domestic farming and food-production businesses make supply chains more resilient. Long-term relationships with trusted British suppliers also give us better visibility over ingredient quality, provenance and availability.

Caring for the Countryside

Farmers help manage much of the British countryside, including grassland, hedgerows, soils and wildlife habitats. Supporting responsible farming helps these landscapes remain productive and cared for.

Building Long-Term Partnerships

Working closely with British farms and suppliers helps us understand how animals are reared, communicate our expectations clearly and build relationships based on welfare, traceability and quality—not simply the lowest price.

Every time we choose a trusted British supplier, we are investing in the farms, skills and rural businesses behind our ingredients.

Made in Hampshire

From British Farms to Our Hampshire Factory

Our support for British farming continues beyond the farm gate. Carefully sourced ingredients are brought to our facility in Waterlooville, Hampshire, where they are prepared and packed by our own team.

Producing our food in-house gives us greater oversight of how ingredients are received, stored, handled and prepared. Our facility and quality-management processes are independently audited through accreditations including RawSAFE, ISO 9001 and OF&G Organic certification, alongside mandatory DEFRA approval.

This means that choosing Paleo Ridge supports not only trusted farms and suppliers, but also British food manufacturing, skilled local employment and the people responsible for producing every meal.
